Google Drive Rumoured To Be Launched Today

It seems, that it is almost for sure, that Google Drive will launch today, April 24th 2012. With 5GB of free space and possibilities to buy up to 100GB space in total.

Dropbox announced yesterday download links for files placed on their service, which is the thing, that brought down Megaupload. It seems, that everybody is frenetically preparing for new, huge competitor, as Microsoft announced, that they allow more space to be bought for their SkyDrive service and that they released their long needed SkyDrive SyncClient for Windows.

Later today, we will see, if all the info supposedly leaked in past few days was true.

Google Drive Launched!

That is what we will hear everywhere tomorrow, or the day after. The long awaited Google service is rumored to be launched with 5GB free space this Tuesday, or Wednesday.

It has been spotted in the wild, when a Google developer showed it by accident running on his phone in Google+ Hangout. Are you excited? I do use several Cloud storage services, with more capacity, but this one excites me a lot, as I do have everything in Google already.

As unusual this post is for being on my blog, still I am posting this as it is very important to know.

This could change the way we look on treating the cancer. It can be used as a new way to treat the cancer by it’s own processes – by removing the blood-intake from it, effectively starving it.

Do you see “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” message instead of your WordPress based blog? Than you have just upgraded to a newer version. The problem is quite trivial, it is just a matter of deleting one file from the server.

So here we go:
Fire up your FTP client and connect to your server. In the WordPress root directory locate file called .maintenance and delete it.
That’s it

When Eclipse Craps Out & No Android Projects Work

Earlier today, after SDK and Eclipse updates were installed, all of my Android projects got Red exclamation marks in project list and nothing compiled, Eclipse IDE was slow like hell and I got a lot of error messages – different exceptions, errors, etc. I did everything to repair my installations, including physically deleting all the folders from the drive. Nothing helped.

Than I got an idea – I’ve killed Eclipse, ADB and instances of Java and javaw in the Task manager and than renamed my c:\users\\workspace to workspace.old. After starting Eclipse next time it welcomed me with nice working IDE and Setup wizard for the ADT plugin integration. I’ve completed the setup, restarted Eclipse, installed my usual SDK versions in the Android SDK manager.

Than I’ve copied my folders back to new workspace folder, imported them and fixed them (it was necessary probably due to the SDK update, as I kept getting error

[2012-04-12 16:31:35 - SDFree] Android requires compiler compliance level 5.0 or 6.0. Found '1.4' instead. Please use Android Tools > Fix Project Properties.
for every project imported)

Eclipse, the Developement IDE

Here are the steps to resurrect Eclipse+ADT:

quit all instances of Eclipse, java and Android SDK tools (kill them in the Task manager, if necessary – including ADB.exe)
uninstall Android SDK
delete c:\program files\android (or where SDK was installed
delete Eclipse folder from c:\program files (or where you have installed it)
locate your profile on disk – open Windows Explorer and open address %username%
rename workspace to workspace.old (or simply move it somewhere else – careful: this folder contains ALL YOUR PROJECTS – so never delete it!
install Eclipse classic from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ (choose either 32bit or 64bit version, depending of kind of Windows installed)
download Android SDK from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html - choose EXE installer and install it (it will check for Java SDK installed, I assume that you already have it)
start SDK Manager (in Widows 7 just click Start and type SDK Manager and press ENTER
in SDK manager – select SDKs you want to download and install them
start Eclipse
Help->Install New Software->Add->Name: ADT Plugin, url: http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/
after the repository is loaded, select Developer tools checkbox and install.
restart Eclipse
Choose SDK location and browse for SDK folder location (probably c:\program files \android, or c:\program files (x86)\android under x64 Windows)
This should be probably it for the installation part
now import folders with projects back:
copy folders with projects from root of workspace.old to workspace folder
Eclipse->Import->Existing projects into workspace->Browse-Finish, do this for every folder (=project)
for each imported project click right button on the project name in the Package Explorer and choose Android tools->Fix project properties
Do this for each project you want to keep in the workspace

This should be it. Probably I’ve forgotten something, if so – just ask me in the comments.
